What is “True” Health?

Is there anything more important than your health? We all have to be as healthy as possible in order to be able to live our lives fully. YOU may have incredible potential to succeed in your career or with caring for your family but if you don’t have your health, you can’t live up to that potential. Is health simply a lack of symptoms? Have you ever known someone who seemed perfectly healthy and the next day died of a heart attack or was diagnosed with cancer? Symptoms are not a good way to judge our health.  How do you know when you are truly “healthy”?

With chiropractic care our goal is to get to the root cause of your symptoms, which is nerve interference or what chiropractors refer to as “subluxations”. If you are not getting proper communication from brain to nerves to every organ, muscle and gland in your body, there will be “dis-ease” in the body. “Dis-ease” over time can become disease. Think of it like getting static on your cell phone; with static, the communication does not come through well and the person on the other end of the phone can’t tell what you are saying.  The  same thing happens with your organs, muscles and glands if they are not getting 100% nerve supply. If for example, your stomach is supplied by a nerve that has interference or damage, your stomach can not work at 100%. How does our body let us know that an organ, muscle or gland is not getting 100% nerve supply? Pain, numbness, tingling–these are all ways your body cries out for help. Your body wants to function at 100% and will continue to cause you symptoms until the nerve interference can be relieved.

What brings patients in for chiropractic care? Low back pain, sciatica,  neck pain, headaches, repetitive stress injuries, mid back pain, hip pain, TMJ pain, knee pain, shoulder/arm/hand pain and any other joint in the body with pain, numbness or tingling. Then there are many patients who come for care in order to keep their nervous system free of interference, so that they can be as healthy as possible. Chiropractic care offers drug-free, natural, alternative healing.  Often patients who come in initially for pain, find that their body is functioning better when they get adjusted, so they continue with regular chiropractic check ups to prevent problems and stay healthy.

I am a Wellness Chiropractor. What does that mean? I want to get you past your symptoms, get to the root cause of your problems (the nerve interference), then help you to stop recreating the same problems. I want you to be as healthy as possible and will provide the highest quality chiropractic care to get you there.

So, readers, what does true health mean to you?    I would love to hear from you.  Leave your comments below.

  1. Thanks for the blog. I have never thought about what true health means to me. I like your explanation of wellness dr. It makes a lot of sense to me. It also made me think about keeping healthy as opposed to taking care of symptoms.
